Alfriston, the most English of English villages, one of the most beautiful villages in the Downs. Small tea-shops as well as antique shops are dotted throughout the town.
Thatched houses, village green and old inns create a real sense of history and character.
The great village church is often referred to as "the Cathedral of the Downs". Alfriston's claim to fame is that the Star Inn is where King Alfred burnt his cakes. The village gets very busy in the summer with tourists and is the perfect location for a weekend break.
