Almunecar is located in the wonderful Costa del Sol between Almeria and Granada. This town is one of the most important tourist spots in the area. It enjoys a subtropical climate. Almunecar has rugged hills plunging into the sea. Close to the town, visitors will find the Sierra Nevada housing the highest peak in mainland Spain. Thanks to the extraordinary subtropical climate in Almunecar, local markets abound of a wide variety of delicious fruits. Fruits orchards line the valleys floor and climb the terraced hillsides. Almunecar boasts a handsome Moorish castle standing on a small hill between two rivers. Water sports fans will find the Marina del Este to the west of the town.
