Brno is the second largest city in Czech Republic; it is the economic, cultural and social centre of South Moravia. In 1243, King Wenceslas I awarded Brno municipal status. The city used to be the historic seat of the Premslid dynasty. It features many interesting sights such as Villa Tugendhat, Spidberrk Castle, St Peter and Paul Cathedral, Capuchin Monastery, Old Town Hall, St James Church and Assumption of our Lady Basislica. Villa Tugendhat is listed as world heritage by UNESCO. Brno is home to the Moravian Museum (second biggest museum in the country) and Brno City Museum. The city also features the renowned National Theatre Brno.
