Kyrenia is a charming little town located in the northern coast of Cyprus. This town has been under Turkish control since the 1974 invasion.
Kyrenia feature an important historic harbour from where rises a beautiful castle. The Harbour, formerly bordered with warehouses, is today a sanctuary for pleasure boats. The warehouses have mainly been transformed into restaurants with terraces along the water where guests can sample traditional cuisine and succulent seafood. Kyrenia Castle is a spectacular site; it features a 12th century chapel and round towers built by Venetians in the 16th century. Shipwreck Museum is located in a room in the inner courtyard of the castle. It exhibits remains of a 4th century Greek ship. Kyrenia hosts many interesting historical and religious sites and benefits of a privilege location since it is situated between sea and mountain. Visitor will be able to see various castles in the Kyrenia mountain range.
