La Marche is a region on the eastern side of Central Italy. It is situated between the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine Mountains. La Marche's land is full of hills except on the coast and in the river valleys. The major urban centres are concentrated along the coast in the plains; it is the most popular area. A big part of the inland remains unspoilt and has kept intact Italian culture and authenticity. Visitors at La Marche will be seduced by mountain villages such as Recani and Cingoli. Urbino is a more popular town and Ascoli Piceno features a beautiful main square. There are more points of interest including Ancona and its sea port and Macerata and its annual opera festival. Nature lovers shouldn't miss the Frasassi Caves, the Furlo Gorge, the Monte Conero and the Sibilini Mountains.
