The province of Pesaro_urbino is the northernmost in the region of Marches bordering Emilia Romagna in the north and the independent Republic of San Marino. Most of the population is concentrated in the towns of Pesaro and Fano. Pesaro is a populous town on the Adriatic, a busy summer resort for its fine beaches, a historical center rich of munuments and culture, hometown of the celebrated composer Gioacchino Rossini, and the Italian capital of the furniture industry. Urbino is a World Heritage Site for its great cultural history, especially during the Renaissance.
