Prestwick is located on the South West Coast of Scotland at approximately 48km from Glasgow. This town is famous for its international airport and for open golf. Prestwick old course hosted the first word golf championship in 1860 and the eleven world championship that followed. There are two other golf courses in Prestwick: St. Nicolas on the southern half of the town and St. Cuthberts. Prestwick was originally an outskirt farm of religious houses. Its name is derived from the old English meaning priest’s farm. Prestwick past is rich in history. Numerous kings have traversed the coastal walks in and around the town. The legend says that Robert the Bruce was cured of leprosy by the waters of the well at St Ninians church. Visitors can still see this well at St Ninians Church.
