Salerno is the capital town of Salerno Province in the South of Italy. Salerno is located on the Amalfi Coast by the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is famous through the world for its University of medicine. Salerno is surrounded by beautiful landscapes; it is crossed by the Sele River and benefit of a Mediterranean climate with hot and dry summers and some rain in winter. As Salerno is quiet windy, clouds are blown away making of it Italy’s sunniest town. Historically, Salerno became an important town during World War II. After negotiating peace with the allies, the King of Italy moved from Rome in 1943 to Salerno. He then established in the town the “Government of the South” and Salerno became the “Capital of Italy” for some months.
