South Moravia is famous in the whole Czech Republic and the rest of the word for its fertile landscape covered in vineyards. It is also a country that as preserved its folk traditions with friendly inhabitant, beautiful countryside and many historical sites. Brno is the capital city of South Moravia that houses the Å pilberk Castle built during the 13th century. The castle was gradually rebuilt in the shape of a Baroque fortress between the 16th and 18th century. Å pilberk Castle is today an interesting museum. Visitors should also have a look at Slavkov, a small town famous for the Battle of the three emperors, home to the monument of peace and a commemorative museum. Among other points of interest, Moravský kras area has four caves accessible to public and the Macocha Abyss, the deepest of its kind in Central Europe. There is a vast amount of cultural and historical sights in South Moravia including some classified in the UNESCO’s word heritage list such as the town of Telč and its Castle.
