Vicenza is the capital of the province bearing its name in the Veneto region. This charming city is situated at the base of Berico Monte at 60km west of Venice. “Vicenza, City of Palladio” is the city main attraction. It was listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1994 and was extended to encompass Palladian villas in 1996. Palladio designed 23 buildings in Vicenza including Villa Capra, Basilica Palladiana, Teatro Olimpico, Palazzo Chiericati and Palazzo Barbaran da Porto. Vicenza also features several beautiful churches and secular buildings. It is a great destination for its masterpieces of architecture and gastronomy. Vicenza specialties include Baccalà alla Vicentina, Risi e Bisi and Polenta e Osei.
