Villanueva de Algaidas is located between Cuevas de San Marco and Villanueva de Tapia in Malaga Province. It is situated close to the boundary with Cordoba. Villanueva de Algaidas is the birthplace of famous sculptor Berrocal. It is possible to see some of the works of the artist - who lives today in Verona - in the village. Villanueva de Algaidas construction is relatively recent but the area was populated since a very long time ago as proven by prehistoric remains found in El Pedroso Cave. The village is characterised by its low whitewashed houses typical of the region and its narrow streets. Villanueva de Algaidas area enjoys beautiful landscapes dominated by many olive groves, cornfield and AndalucÃa farmhouses. It is marked by gentle slopes and hills providing the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls.
